Introduction

Welcome to the web page of the Department of Economics and Regional Studies (KRTI) at the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Pécs. KRTI was established in 2006 with the aim of integrating three previously separately existing departments. Our core educational duties include maintaining our own economics programs as well as contributing to various business education curricula at the Faculty. The economics programs of KRTI are characterized by a dominantly applied orientation on the base of solid theoretical and methodological foundations. The two applied fields we are specialized in are regional economics and development and monetary economics and policy. Our graduates can equally be found at various levels of EU and Hungarian governments, monetary institutions, banks, universities and research institutes. We are maintaining very good connections with leading research institutions of Europe and the USA in the fields of regional economics and development and the economics of innovation and innovation policy. Beyond research cooperation these connections make us possible to send our most outstanding students to participate in major international programs or to organize summer schools with leading international faculty. By continuously developing and expanding our professional staff we aim at not only maintaining but also exceeding what we have already been able to achieve.
